Hi Steve,

Welcome! Check the M&G section for our next public M&G.

What mods are  you planning on for the TJ?

well, if I understand correctly I need to have front a rear tow points for trail rides, I think this means that I need to upgrade my bumpers.
Am I right about that? If there were a way to have the tow points without upgrading bumpers I would consider it, but I want to do it right.
Any comments?

Welcome!

But most Wranglers came with front and rear tow hooks. If yours did not they can be purchased on the cheap side and bolt right on.

Steve,

Lambchop is correct, if you don't have these on the front, you can get them pretty cheap. Post up the need in the Pawn Shop. Do you  have a rear tow hitch? That can be used as a rear tow point.

Here's the complete list of what we require for Trail rides:

Full Size Spare

Meaning you should have a spare that matches the size of the tires you're running. A full size "stock" spare won't cut it if you are running a larger tire than stock. You should  have one for just the street anyway

Fire Extinguisher
It's obvious why we need this. You can get one at Walmart or Home Depot for less than $20. Mount it within arms reach if you can.

CB Radio
This is the way we communicate on the trail, and even on the road

Rear and Front Tow Points Bolted through frame
This is one of the most important to get squared away BEFORE the ride (because you can't borrow them). Fronts are easy/cheap on a TJ, XJ not so much. If you have a rear trailer hitch, it makes a great rear tow point.

Tow Straps (No Metal Hooks)
You can get a cheap one at Walmart or Home Depot. If you want to buy a hefty one local, try Cabelas. I got a 3"x30' for $50 there.

Battery Secure
You don't want it bouncing around, shorting out on the hood, or battery acid flying around. Bad for the environment AND the Jeep

Seatbelts for all passengers

Again, Obvious

Thanks, maybe you could bring them to the next meet & greet?

I've been trying to change my displayname, I didn't intentionally set it to my email address, but it looks like I can't do that. Is there any way to change it?
