Mary had today off and started her latest project.  Unfortunately she had a bad day.

We have a small concrete retaining wall near our basement door.  She ordered some of that thin stone product that is looks like field stone.  We picked up some type S mortar mix.  No matter how she mixed it, it would not stick to the wall or the stone.  I decided to pick up some of the latex additive or "Milk".  We will give that a try tomorrow.

I pressure washed the concrete the day before so I know the wall is clean.

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

When I put on some veneer stone around our fireplace, UBS sold me thin-set as well and I had a similar problem. I called the stone manufacturer and they told me I needed to use a medium-grade thinset. Went like clockwork after that.

Check with the veneer manufacturer, you may need a similar product.

We've tried it all, and nothing.  The thinset was a disaster.  The stone is just too big to hold with thinset on a vertical surface.  We just had a mason repoint our chimney.  I had Mary give him a call. swear_mad

We just had to call it.  Something we just cant do. swear_mad swear_mad swear_mad swear_mad
