Amazing pic Rey!  Whenever I get some free time I'd love to get more into photography.

I tried holding my iPhone up to the viewfinder on my telescope.    Worked well not so much...
Can't wait to see what Rey caught.

The regular moon shots are relatively easy because of the amount of light. These eclipses are extremely difficult (as I learned) because of the low light. My tripod couldn't handle my new lens, so it was creeping down from the weight. Now I know why you shouldn't cheap out on a tripod. LOL

A senior photographer from NASA said that you should try and get the moon in context to something. Forget that! I was lucky to get these...

This is why I don't shoot for NASA, here is one of his shots from a past lunar eclipse

I was having trouble keeping the telescope in focus when it went red.   Can't imagine a digital lens.

As for the NASA advice,  I call BS...
That NASA photo has to be photo shopped.
Think about it,  how high in the sky was the moon when the eclipse happened.   I believe the full eclipse was 10:30ish.

The above picture makes it look like the eclipse happened as the moon was rising.
(Makes you wonder....  NASA is a government agency...)
