"Bad decisions"
« on: January 14, 2016, 05:36:26 PM »
Here is my 97 Sahara I just picked up for 1400 bucks. Barely any rust which was cool. Had high miles but an engine swap is in store anyway.

I just bought a 4 inch lift by zone with all of the extras, warn 9500lb brand new winch, smittybuilt front bumper for upgrades as of now. Every month I'm buying an upgrade and if something breaks 2 upgrades that month lol.
All oil will be changed, brakes flushed and new rotors pads etc. This week starting Monday I will be ripping the interior apart and getting rid of the 2 week old brand new carpet and replacing it with herculiner.
Guess my build list is
Tires
Dana 44 front
Header and exhaust intake
4.7 stroker
Rebuilt transmission
Supporting mods to support higher horse power
Then maybe dana 60 rear with disc conversion or 8.8
Maybe super bright lights not sure.

2 coats of primer
8 coats of paint
4 coats of clear
2 coats of paint hardener. Should be dry by next week.
Picking up "bad decisions" Monday or Tuesday and tearing her apart! So excited. Hopefully getting her registered to go wheel.

That primer came out good!  Was it an epoxy primer?  Are you going to use a black color for your top coat?  Post up what you used...  I'm interested for painting my suspension and frame...

O GOD, WHY?!
Trying to compete for uphill competitions. This jeep is my practice rig. Going to throw it severe beatings. I'm a racer at heart wether it's on a drag,circle/track,dirt idc. It's going to be in a few years but I would like to start somewhere. If off-roading is fun I'll swap permanently from drag.

The parts came painted from zone already/Currie. I used http://www.eastwood.com/black-epoxy-primer-two-quart-kit.html?fee=7&fep=27396&SRCCODE=GA220010&adpos=1o1&creative=83580265620&device=t&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CjwKEAiA8ee0BRD1l7vV6JHe0zISJADxYItmskWQguQekUt1hWF1lX9uR-cKSiOOY2rOyaDZxgl81hoCDbnw_wcB then rust oleum paint. Hardener and clear after from duplicolor. http://www.nationaltoolwarehouse.com/Chassis-Saver-Gloss-Black-1-Gallon-P157454.aspx?gclid=CjwKEAiA8ee0BRD1l7vV6JHe0zISJADxYItmAT3ZnpecBAV_CRCJ9GZs51Va6ak2b6eiJ28m3h9_8RoCtEbw_wcB Is what I'm using on the frame then rust oleum deckover to seal it then rubberized coating. I know it might be overkill but it's going to be torn apart anyway so mine as well do it right so I don't have to repaint each year. Having 13-15 layers versus 6 is better. Not going to care about weight since I'm not dragging anymore. Also I'm debating on putting s waterproofing sealer on the frame. Spraying the inside of it through the holes as well. Just opening her up with a elongated hose attachment. Not sure yet.

That Chassis Saver paint for the frame looks promising...  The Eastwood Black epoxy primer for the suspension parts is good stuff too -  but somehow it looks kind of green in your picture... did you accidentally get green primer?

fix the rear upper link mounts while you have shit apart, they like to rip off the frame in that year range
