He said he had to calibrate the drone in the video just before he launched it.  Is phantom 4 more user friendly for complete amateurs? Never flown one before and looking for a plug and play model

This a great thread - good info!

I thought the same thing when he hauled all the stuff. Probably close to $10K of cameras, drones and phones

off topic - is that a powered skate board he rides?  looks like he has a remote in his hand and his studio had a few that looked like they were on chargers

Thanks Frank!

I still like the Phantom with the better camera but have to really think about the convenience of the Mavic.  That's allot to lug around with the Phantom - Mavic fits in my back pack when on vacation.

Board: A couple of spoiled kids on my block have Boosted Boards - really cool!!!  I had a Big Wheel when I was a kid

Wow... that seems like a great price!  I know nothing about Go-Pro's.... does anyone know what the cost for a decent Go-Pro camera for this would run?

Rob, when you say you don't need a Go-Pro for this - not sure what you mean....

Sorry for the stupid questions - I plan on getting one but am totally stupid on the subject.

I have a $750.00 Drone budget to work with......is it possible to get something decent at that price or splurge and go something better?

Appreciate any help.....thanx/mc

Marty, I paid $400 for our GoPro 3, plus the added cost of a few accessories.

Rob, do you know if the camera on the Mavic is up gradable?  I want the best camera without getting into the Inspire price range.

Much thanx!

After reading and watching tons of videos (gotta love Youtube).... I bought a BlueJay with live video stream and NO GPS (~$150) to learn how to fly.  NOT as easy as I thought but I've been told it's best to learn how to fly before having all the sensors do the work for you.  Having fun learning - lot's of help on-line!  Got it stuck in a tree yesterday about 70 feet high - I should have recorded how I brought it down.  Anyway, I really suck at flying and need some serious practice!!

... going with a Phantom 4 pro pkg - learning allot about cameras in this research and need to go with the pro.../mc

That Traxxas Aton got pretty good reviews.  I already have a GoPro, so Protech's sale price is pretty attractive

Yes, very attractive to get in the game. If it follows the Traxxas model, replacement parts will be very easy to get.

The key feature I want in the drone that I will eventually purchase,  is the tracking feature.
But that is purely a feature I want for photography/videography

The Traxxas has a SD card slot "so your flights can be logged on an optional SD card and then loaded into Google Earth so you can view your flightpath using programs such as Mission Planner or re-fly your mission in VR"
