Looks good Rey. I see you have the grill even with the front edge of the hood. My hood / grill area the hood overhangs the grill.  Just dont want you to have the headlights point 6' in front of you. I know your tryin to match up different parts and just thought Id give you a heads up on grill rod length.  Most people think that swap is just bolting this to that , Your doing a hellava job there Dude !   Shes gonna look Purdy !       FjR68

Will Geoff be laying out another gorilla stencil for the hood?

He was pretty torqued that I even did this. I was thinking of going another route, so he and Laura are lobbying hard for Gorillacon.

Thanks Frank. I tightened the back part of the fender and messed with the adjustments and ended up with this. The hood latch engages nicely now.

That is lookin so nice Rey . Its amazing  , not just the round head light but the shape difference once you see them together. Theres like 9/10 inches difference in the wheel base of the two and yet you can make parts fit.   Thats what I like about the Dana axles before the YJ. All the parts are interchangeable . GITTERDONE !  I liked the (RobTJ)  Gorillicon 2.0 !   Must have !  With the new logos      FjR68

A few updates...

The radiator. I decided to go with the YJ radiator because it was new. You can see in the pic below that there isn't much room. I modded the brackets so it mounts in there nicely with about 1" clearance between the fan clutch and the radiator. Not sure what to do with the fan shroud yet. I have to weld up the final brackets.

Next the lower grill mount. I don't have the original mounting hardware, so I just welded on a plate to allow a bolt to go through and I'll use hockey pucks.

Having a few problems. First, when assembled and buttoned down, the passenger side of the grill is getting pulled down where it's about 3/4" lower then the drivers side. Either the tube fender or the tub is tweaked. Thinking of jacking it up by the tube fender to tweak it the other way, but that has "probably shouldn't have done" that written all over it. lol

Next, the Power Steering reservoir will need some custom mounts and it interferes with the air cleaner box, so that needs to be relocated or replaced. After searching around, I may do the Windstar air cleaner/Cowl mod.

Yep, turn up the heat, looks like a lot of the weld is on the frame support, not your tab.

Will a XJ PS pump work with the reservoir attached to the pump? I may have one in the shed.

Jacking & tweaking, go slow, do a little at a time. There's only one way to learn is to just do it...

What's the worse that can happen, you end up with a JK... LOL

BINGO. When Alan and Pat said turn up the heat I got worried because it was maxed. I was using wire speed of 6 and getting those thick welds. I lowered the wire speed to 3 and it's melting much better.

Try doing a "C" or a "V" pattern having the end of the C or V touch the two different materials.  Also try doing small cursive "e", not my favorite, but works better for some.

Also try pushing the weld vs. pulling.  You will find yourself using both even though you will favor one.

Best way to practice welding is welding two pieces of material together.  Its hard to practice when its on a flat surface.

Jeep looks good.  If you have any CJ nose questions let me know.
