So now who want's to part with their stock TJ intake? It's the perfect length to go from the TB to the firewall in front of the cowl on the XJ's.

Would it make sense to put a scoop on the cowl with that?

Probably, from the write ups I've read through, one guy just put in a curved flap jb welded to the cowl openings above the intake to move water away, another just remove the bottom half of about 2 inches of the intake which I don't think would do much if water were to drip off the end of it as it comes down. Everyone has a different way of protecting I guess. I plan to go with something like the flap like in this write up

One guy actually just ran pipe into the cowl and put a cone filter on the end. I think he cut in to where air enters the cabin so that it wasn't directly under the openings but I couldn't tell from his pictures.

I run an open air paper filter because I converted to TBI from carb.  It has the normal 4BBL. size neck , I think it 5.5" . Anyone know of a cone that would fit over that so I could do something like this ?   FjR68

From what I remember, I think the one on my stock 98 grand cheorkee 5.2 would work.  I wonder if you could get one from a junk yard cheap?
