opinions on gasket maker

Looking for something to seal up my diff covers, axle flanges, etc?? There is great stuff, but this stuff, although a little pricey, gets good reviews.

I've used most of their products, not that one though. I generally use the black to seal up diffs without a gasket. I use the blue along with a gasket on water pumps, etc...

Read the package, find the one that best meets your needs.

I use the black stuff on my diff covers. Just look for something with high oil resistance. I have used one tube for probably 10 diff's at this point and still have some left. Between my XJ, the 2 door, the silver one, my roommates Jeep, and Emily's Jeep, that's a lot of diff's. Much more cost effective than buying lube lockers for each one. If it's just your Jeep, lube lockers are convenient in that you can reuse them each time and they don't require you to clean the surface with a razor blade every time you pull the cover.

Get the one with the little handle on it. Totally worth the extra cost. Much easier to get a consistent bead and the whole tube stays a lot cleaner because you aren't fighting with it.

Anerobic gasket maker is for more of a machined clearance sealant.  It's used under cam bearing caps on the ends of cylinder heads that are exposed and stuff like that.  I've opened a few engines that had 80+k on them and that stuff was still "tacky".  Use right stuff for diff covers.
OMG, this guys avatar may get me in trouble at work.  Not the personal use of company property, I'm safe there.  Its his avatar that's going to get me in trouble.  Phew its gone, now I can get back to screwing off on company time!!

I've used the Right Stuff in the spray cheese can of over a decade for diff's and dozen's of SYE T-Case installs... from my experience - use a 1/8 bead bead and smooth it out with your finger (in a prophylactic glove) otherwise it will own your finger for a month!
