Rough Country winches
« on: April 21, 2017, 03:42:51 PM »
Anyone run or have experience using the new Rough Country winches? Looking at the 9500 Pro Series

They are offering me a package deal if I go with their winch when I order the ZJ winch plate.

Just wondering. I know that Superwinch and Warn are two favorites here at NE Jeep, but I ma on a serious budget due to the engine rebuild - but I don't want junk either.

Any input appreciated.

It's probably no different than other $300 winches. How good is the deal? According to the website, the warranty is... 1 Year Electrical, 2 Year Mechanical

The Tigershark is only $330 on amazon now. It's still a chinese winch, but I believe better quality when I compare my Tigershark to my old Smittybilt.

The solenoid packs aren't sealed very well so mine ended up rusting the solenoids and spooling in on it's own snapping the cable.  I replaced it with a Tractor Supply 8k traveller winch.

thanks. Hearing more than one person liking the Tractor Supply stuff.
We'll see what the budget holds.

The smittybuilt's got good reviews from 4wd magazine. I don't remember how rough country did. They did a review of like a dozen winches like a year or two ago. Might not hurt to look it up and read through it.

The smittybilt that I put on my wj pulled to much amperage.  So much that it melted a battery terminal and left me in the woods for a night.
