Trutrac in front of a TJ.
« on: May 10, 2017, 02:19:03 PM »
Looking for first hand experience opinions on a trutrac for a dana 30, specifically how is the handling in snow? I'm not looking for suggestions on what I should run.  I'm looking for opinions on this diff only.
OMG, this guys avatar may get me in trouble at work.  Not the personal use of company property, I'm safe there.  Its his avatar that's going to get me in trouble.  Phew its gone, now I can get back to screwing off on company time!!

No problems, I have a spartan locker "trutrack" style ratcheting lunch box locker. Never had issues locked or unlocked in the snow in 6 years with it.

A truetrac  is probably the best unit for a front end. It has the highest bias ratio of any LS diff. Needs no special additives. No clutches or spring packs to ware out. Possibly the best thing of both worlds . Yes this is what I had in my D-30 for one of the first upgrades I ever did and it was a big plus .   Ive installed them in both my kids rangers , Two YJs , A couple 8.8s in Jeeps. Not one issue ever .   FjR68

You wont be sorry either ! Watch how when wheelin and you have to make a tight turn , The only thing that compares is a select-able thats turned off . No push at all.  For a DD vehicle its gonna be awesome.    FjR68

I've had a truetrac in my D30 on 33s for about a year now with no problems. I'm happy with it. Definitely a lot more grip than with it open and yet I can actually steer in the snow. Off road I tend to wish I had a locker but the performance on road in the snow has made it worth it.
