TJ Door Surround Question
« on: June 10, 2017, 09:19:11 PM »
I drove my new to me 1999 TJ to the M&G last night with the soft top on with no doors, windows...   On the highway, the door surrounds vibrated and jumped around.  Is there anything to hold them in place other than the tension of the soft top?

Do you have the pins that go through the cage to hold them in?

Two screws with large round flat handles per surround as mentioned but there is also a rubber pad that goes between the tub and bottom pin that greatly helps reduce the vibes. Also it may only be a slight amount but the top front corner of the surround does slide in the corner of the windshield frame just a hair.

Two screws for top

Rubber for bottom

Looks like these are the parts I'm missing!  I'll have to drill holes in my aftermarket front roll cage for the knob/pins and try to source those and the rubber isolators

If it helps you may wanna try it without the rubbers first since its really not that bad without them. The screws are the important part. Im just shocked you didnt loose one on the highway without the screws.

Yup, exactly what I was referring to. I may have these laying around since I have an aftermarket cage that the door surrounds fit snug on without the screws.

Ill report back.

They snap on the aftermarket bar pretty good but my top was up and probably held them in place

If you are going to drill holes in the bars for these, just take notice that one hole on either side is oblong from the factory.
