Tire question for the JK types....
« on: July 17, 2017, 01:40:59 PM »
A guy I work with picked up an 07 JK "X" over winter for his wife.  Not a bad deal on a lower mileage jeep. They have no intent to wheel it but she wants bigger tires with no lift. What are options? I honestly dont know what will fit with various wheel and tire combos. I'm pretty sure its got 16's on it now. Ive also been talking to him about a set of take-offs.... thoughts?
I have no idea what I'm doing... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The stock rims are probably 17". I have a couple sets from buying take-offs for Randy's WJ. Stock are 255, my guess can go up a size on the same rim? Not sure a 285 would stuff underneath without rubbing?

I think you can fit 33" tires with no lift for street use.

Look for Rubicon take offs.  I picked up a set of five brand new 2015 Rubicon Tires and Wheels for my wife's 2011 JKU for around $1K shipped about two years ago...

Believe it or not a 35/12.5 would fit with proper offset and trimming the pinch weld in front of the rear tires. A good option is a 33 (I believe) 10.5 fits nicely on the 7.5" stock wheel with spacers. Stock Rubi is basically a 32/10
