350 wanted
« on: July 20, 2017, 03:32:41 PM »
Anyone have a 350 hanging around that needs a home?
I'll be going in a 1984 GMC K25
Jordens lower end bit the big one.

Old school plain jane stock
carb and bolt ons also wanted   manifolds ok   headers a plus
I'm gonna chuck the entire old pile.

BTT     Still looking
I have a "maybe" lined up.  (It's awaiting extraction.)
If he ever takes it out, I'm getting it, unless I find another sooner.

This is a harder find than I thought. I'm forgetting how old I am.
They "used to be"  a dime a dozen,  Not anymore.

I always had a few kicking around when I was a teenager. These days it's probably easier to get a LS

                                              ***Update***
Took out the junk, redneck country boy style, outside in the dirt.
Seized up so bad we couldn't separate the transmission. (couldn't reach all around the torque converter)
Took everything out.
Nice assortment of parts in the oil pan...
whole sections of shattered camshaft, Lifters, pushrods, pieces of block, pistons, connecting rods.....
kinda make me wonder how some of this stuff found it's way all the way to the bottom.
Autopsy says it was a rod bearing that went first.
This 5.7 was bored .040 over. - didn't know that.
Looks like whoever did it, didn't pay good attention to detail.
Still waiting on two potential donors.

Found a suitable replacenment.
Unmolested, factory assembled engine, under 100k miles (90 something) and a newly rebuilt tranny.
Never sat for long without being started, was used as a short distance daily driver (2nd vehicle)
Waiting for headders to come in.

Thanks. We'll take it :)
There is a working 400 transmission here if anyone needs one.
It should be rebuilt, but it's working fine. (It's an '84, so...It's time)

The output shaft of the new tranny is a couple inches longer than the old one, so his transfer case doesn't work.
So he got the case that was attached to this tranny....way better
Steel and gears as opposed to aluminum and chain. So now he needs driveshafts .
The proverbial “can of worms” has been opened…LOL
