No,No,No, you guys don't need Chromoly anything. With the exception of Cory, your not going to break anything. Stop reading the magazines.

Always been interested in TJ Dana 30 shafts. I think some others would be interested as well.

Yes, I would be interested in TJ D30 cromoly shafts

Get me a price on TJ rubi axles.
05 Rubicon axles prices for me too please

TJ Rubi and Non-Rubi D44 Rears $252 Shipped
TJ Non-Rubi D35 backordered, $252 Shipped

Did I miss the pricing for the TJ D30 front axles or did you mean D30 instead of the D35 you listed above?

TJ/XJ D30 fronts $469 shipped.

I'm in let me know where I need to go to buy rear Jk axles.
One question might be stupid, but I do not know. Does the spline count need to match the front? Learning on the fly here!

Spline count on the axle shafts just has to match the spline count on the carrier for that axle. Rear and front are independent of each other. For example my front dana 30 is 27 spline and my rear Chrysler 8.25 is 29 spline.

I am glad I asked! Thank you Jeremy!

So I went with 488 gears stock JK Dana 40 in the rear would they had to change the carrier? I am pretty sure they changed the carrier actually. I will have to look at existing parts tonight.

stock spline count axles are fine, going to larger spline count is stronger but you will have to buy a new carrier shafts and wheel bearings in some situations

stick with cromo stock size shafts

You wont break them

OK, maybe I've broken a few axles. I probably should have counted them.  But, in my defense almost all of them were 260 u-joints. Dana 30's come stock with 44 u-joints.

Here's a suggestion, don't buy chromemoly until you have broken an axle. If you wollow the short-side axle ears, just JB-Weld the u-joint in.

Really?  Wait until you break and axle?  Are you kidding me!?

It's better to swap them out with Chromos then use the stockers as spare for the trail.

Yeah, I just love wheeling with people who "Don't Care" about breaking on the trail......

$159 for a pair of 29 spline 8.25's is almost a no-brainer. I've seen stock 29 spline shafts sell for $100.

I'm running 27 spline now with Detours secret locker, but if I were thinking about a full case locker I'd definitely buy those instead of sourcing a stock pair.

But I never complained all the times Broken spit out a ujoint, those were simple fixes and there always was a lot of camaraderie (and ball busting from Earle). Fixing Jeeps in the mud and rocks were good memories, things seemed less complicated then.

Just a word on stronger axle shafts , worth mentioning .  Actually its a question .  If you break an axle (D-30) U-joint , you may take out the ears also . If you make the axle shaft so very strong it wont break first , Take a guess whats next in line ?????????????????  Just saying folks ,  The differential cost way more money than a shaft.  JKs have weak axle housings , spend yer cash on fixin that. Just my opinion and that dont count fer Chit !     FjR68

Trussing JK axles is definitely a good idea

Is this still in the works? Should be pulling my 8.25 this weekend. Would love to put shafts in it when I have it apart to regear.

Not to go off topic, but anyone ever consider cryo treating their gears? Supposed to make a substantial difference in strength, most likely bringing the breaking point back to the shafts, even with chromoly's.
