One thing that I can think of with an exo-cage is that some of the trails we go on are full of trees and getting an even wider vehicle through would be challenging.

To me that would be the whole point of an XJ exo...it's a heck of a lot easier to fit between trees when you don't have to worry about rubbing or slamming your roof.

I would never go full exo though. I would gladly do an internal, and if I was brave enough to cut my room a hybrid. I don't like the idea of not having any internal cross bracing. The rub rails at the gutter would be pretty sweet though when off camber in a tight trail.

Woah woah woah.... my jeep gets used

On sunny days when the temp is over 55

when there is no snow on the ground

and the ground is fairly firm
