Lights, the kind you put in your hand and strap to your head
« on: October 16, 2017, 06:15:16 PM »
Looking to invest in a good flashlight and headlamp. Looking for good quality, tired of just buying cheap junk. Whats everyone use and like?

I have a black diamond head lamp that I love. I've used it for everything from plowing to hiking. Never fails me when I need it

As Alan has linked to the SOG brand is a great option for handheld, I use the DE-03, which is a 128 lumens pocket flashlight
uses a single AA battery. about $35. The DE-06 is about $100 but its 750 plus lumens and its rechargable, if you go that route
get the combo with the SOG Survival Hawk...its awesome and about $150 on Amazon.

As far as headlamps, Petzl  Actik 300 lumens about $45
                               Petzl  Tikka+ 150 lumens about $30
Really been through some harsh environments had always counted on Petzl's and never been let down

I use this one for a headlight or pocket carry, you can unclip it from the head band and use the pocket clip if you need to just carry the flashlight.

Has a rechargeable battery with it's own charger that plugs into any usb port.

I'm a luman addict   I have two sources of illumination on me at all times not including my phone or gun mounted... Two is one and one is none...

My every day carry is a Streamlight MicroStream Personal EDC Flashlight with a pocket clip...

For a head lamp I'm happy with my VITCHELO V800 Headlamp with White and Red LED Lights. Waterproof IPX6 and 168 Lumens

For my Glock I like the Streamlight

Olight is a good manufacturer, I have several of their lights for a few years now and they work well and are bright.

I like their rechargeable models, you can check out their web sight here https://www.olightstore.com/

I have a R50 pro seeker LE mounted in my truck, it stays charged up all the time in it's holder. Has 4 brightness levels and strobe function and it's waterproof IPX8 rated.

The headlight model I mentioned before has 5 brightness levels and instead of a strobe it has a SOS mode.

Like anything else if you find one you like shop around because prices are all over the place.

Have you considered getting a Zippo and carrying around a torch? I’ve been told they are inexpensive and “rechargeable”

So for head lamp I went with the Black Diamond Revolt. Very happy with the quality and brightness settings. Hoping to see a good lasting battery life out of it. Happy to have something that is rechargeable and displays battery levels.

I have a Shadowhawk Tatical X800 flashlight.  By far the brightest one I have ever owned.  Not cheap, but well worth the money!

I just bought one of these. So far it's the best all around light I have ever used. Perfect for around the group site at Savoy, getting to my truck and light inside the camper. Super techie on the inside too.
