1970 Jeepster Commando Half Cab project
« on: November 01, 2017, 05:50:20 AM »
Just picked this one up.  It's pretty crusty and needs rockers.  Very nice half cab and bulkhead.  Nicest Half cab I have seen in the northeast.  Dauntless 225 V6 with rear dump exhaust and the 71 air cleaner.  Stock Hub caps with 51k miles.  3 speed manual. Haven't verified but should have a dana 27 upfront with a dana 44 in back and Dana 20 transfer case.  Has plow frame.  Asking $2500.  Also have a short throw 3 speed manual with shift tower and center console that was very rare and only available in deluxe models.  This would really make this one cool.

Can't figure out to add pictures from my Phone :swear_mad:  Is there a way to add pictures?  I usually use photobucket but that doesn't work anymore.
Thanks,

Whats even cooler is that they only made 700 of these in 70 with the half cab!  The nose is different between a CJ - The Jeepster has wings or ears on the grill with the parking light on the outside of the headlights where the CJ's are inboard of the headlights.

Space Shuttle - I will consider anything, but the $ is really in the body/half cab.  The V6 225 is a good engine at it was the largest HP engine in a jeep for that era at 160HP!!!  You might want the drive train for other projects!  My other commando has the 225 and it has a fair amount of balls.

I was thinking it would make a sweet tow rig, if the body was placed onto a dodge frame with a cummins

Might even be able to work out a deal with me helping do the body work.

The nose is different between a CJ -

I think what he means is you can put a CJ nose on these pretty easily.  Ask me how I know
You can get a Hummer in a Jeep, but you can't get a Jeep in a Hummer!

97 TJ -Clayton Long Arm, 4.56gears, 9" rear/44 Front, Locked F/R, 36" Swampers, Beadlocks, One Ton Steering, full F/R cage and full skids

WIP: CJ Buggy:  V8, 14/60, 5.13's, Locked F/R.  Not sure what else will end up in it

89YJ, 4cyl, Waggy 44's, 5.13 gears, ARB lockers F/R, 37in MTR's, Beadlocks, Full Cage and tubed out front.

04 Silverado- Tow Rig,
