Jeep JL
« on: November 01, 2017, 06:18:12 AM »
Jeep released some pictures this week. Looks like it will still have a folding windshield and a removable roof still. Production to start before the end of the year. Full debut will be at the LA auto show at the end of the month.

I like the red one, I'd drive it. The lights in the fenders is an interesting idea

If they put the windshield on hinges with latches that connect to the roll bars I could see a lot more people folding yet down. Vs now where it takes removal of some bolts just to fold it, and then the roll bar might need some disassembly as well. I like the “easy fold down” idea

I can see the first thing to get hit are those lights in the fenders that far to the edge...

But then again, mostly minivan drivers will be buying these things....

I definitely like this one, but its an evolutionary design, not a revolutionary design, so I'm sure it will be easier for people to digest than the JK was. I really like those wheels on the 2 door.

The red one seems to have a lot of the MOPAR accessories they showed at SEMA. Look at how high the front fenders are.

I like the CJ homage grill. The windshield looks way better to fold. It’s a 1/2 day project to fold a JK. Apparently the suspension is basically the same so that’s a good thing. Once all the plastic BS is removed it’ll be a decent Jeep. I’m not trading in my JK in though

Uconnect is god awful!! I will be at my next destination before it even thinks about reconnecting.  1/2 the time when it does and I’m listening to a podcast it’ll lose my spot and start over  :swear_mad:

The real story will be what's underneath it.  Suspension tweaks?  Stronger axle options? Etc.

Very interesting to read this forum to track the development and how vendors will be creating aftermarket items...

Eventually. It's start/stop, I real hate the idea of that. Not to mention it'll be crazy money.

Start/Stop is interesting.  VW stayed away from diesels for their hybrids saying the gas engine is better to use for a Start/Stop system.

You can disable that feature.
My co-worker has a '17 GC that has the feature.  It's horrible,  but there is a button on the dash to turn it off.

But you have to turn it off every time you start the vehicle. Someone has to figure out how to get into the computer and set the default to off.

I haven’t heard the details on the controls yet. I know MOPAR locked all of the ECMs and BCMs starting in like ‘15. I can barely do anything to mine. To fully get into my ECM I need to send it out and have it  jailbroken. That costs $500 and not being able to drive it for a week or two.
