No more state park fees
« on: November 26, 2017, 12:05:06 PM »
CFPA reports that the state budget that was just passed includes the following:

"Starting in January, 2018, two things will be different for you:
1. No more parking fees for you to get into any State Park (this year, the parking fee was $13 for just one weekend visit to a shoreline Park like Hammonasset Beach State Park and $9 at many other Parks); and
2. You will have a $10 charge added to your DMV vehicle registration (paid every other year) which generates funding for the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of your State Parks."

I assume that if you're out of state, you'll still have to pay a fee.

The chances of that money staying in the park funds is just about zero. This is probably an easier way for them to slide money to general fund. Before you know it there will be no nice beaches to go to. The fees helped keep most of the riffraff out.

They will all get destroyed and closed down like beach pond.

Also I wonder if they will make out of staters pay or completely shut down collections and get rid of those jobs.

And for idiots like me with too many vehicles, look what I'm paying for parks I don't use. I say leave the fees for those that use the parks. This is again taxing the working class.

Also, bet within 24 to 36-months after we've forgotten about the fee being attached to our reg, they will begin charging again when the parks are in disarray.

Remember, State Income Tax was temporary, Tax on having an LLC was temporary, we were never supposed to have slot machines in our State until Wiker cut a deal to siphon off slot revenue to the State. What happened to that windfall?

Face it, our State is broke, we continue entitlements for those that don't work. Our working class is shrinking. I trust none of it.  :swear_mad:

Agreed. I don't use the parks often enough to make this change worth it for me. Thankfully one vehicle is gone; just waiting for Rudolph to go to his new home. (Tom) But that still leaves 4 vehicles for us...
