I bet we can put something together.    I would love to try my hand welding Aluminum.

There are a lot of aspects to welding.  We just need to find some SME's to teach.

Arc Welding  (Buzz Box)

Brazing
Torch welding
Cutting Torch

Mig - with gas
Mig - Flux core
Mig - Aluminum

Tig

Plasma cutting

Back in the day, Arc welding was the cheapest way to get started.  Works great down to about 1/8 of and inch thickness.  Today, with the HF flux welders for under $100 I would guess that would be todays entry level.

79 CJ-7        Q-Track - Aging gracefully in the woods(well, not much left)

I mig welded aluminum back in college. The heat distribution is amazing!

I'm no good with torches, think they just scare me. I would like to get better with. Brazing, I could never get the hang of.

Plasma, besides my unit being junk, I'd like to practice on a better machine to really understand if it's me, machine or both.

Mig & stick I'm OK with.

Aluminum is a huge YES for me. I have plans to build an aluminum rack body for the Dodge. I've done a little research and talked to a couple folks down at Holcon. They have a better inert gas that burns hotter than straight Argon. One thing I keep hearing is aluminum needs to be hot to weld and oxidation is your enemy. I also have a cracked rim I want to try my hand at after the rack body.

Tig never done it and wanna.

I have a lot of scrap we can use. A lot of it is light but is good to practice on. When we're done, we can have Randy take it to Daddio's.

I like the idea of a group welding class. I’d love to try welding on a traditional mig and my inverter mig back to back to see how much of a difference there is. Ive heard lots of people say they don’t like welding with the inverter mig, but idk how much truth there is to it. I would also love to get some welding pointers. And I’d be happy to bring my Miller 211 for people to try.
