Bathroom Plumbing Help
« on: February 13, 2018, 11:20:53 PM »
I just replaced my 70's vintage bathtub faucet, mix valve and shower head with a quality Pfister setup.  With the old set up- if we had the valve all the way up we would have an extremely hot bath that we could turn down with cold water to a comfortable temp if needed...  The new set up provides a decent temp for a shower wide open, but the tub faucet I measured at 100 degrees and that combined with a cold cast iron tub = a sub standard bath temperature

My contractor said bathtub temps are regulated lower than a kitchen faucet   Any way to increase the bathtub water temp before running a separate fill spigot straight from the water heater?

First off there is no such thing as quality pfister product lol

That valve shouldn’t be regulating temp, unless it’s designed to do that.

What temp are you seeing out of the shower head?

I've seen "child safe" shower fixtures with a built in mixing valve but that's strange the shower head is warmer

"EVERY" Bathroom valve is regulated for temp regardless of MFG.  Take the knob off on the temp selector , probably have to pick out the emblem . Unscrew it and remove the knob. Inside you will see a toothed white ring . Pull out and rotate to the red side of the sweep. Put your shit back together . Its been a law since about 2000 . Child protection thing.     FjR68

No charge Dude. Cant tell you how many customers had a bathroom redone , then they call and say something is wrong with the boiler. You show up and ask a bazillion questions to find out "Only" the tub/shower wont get hot enough.  TaDa , I can fix that .    FjR68

Thanks Frank!  Holly was happy to have decent hot water - she was starting talking about an immersion electric heater to pre-heat the tub for a bath

Actually , we redid the kitchen and my lovely bride bought a new "Moen" . It has a battery powered box under the sink that turns it on hands free without touching the faucet. It also gives you the choice to adjust the final temp of straight hot water , all for the same reason.  Sit down and read this.  560.00 BUKS !  I needed this why ?   Why keeping all this in mind , you realize that your dish washer requires 130* water to sterilize the dishes. Either that or use the preheat cycle most of them come with.   FjR68
