I have a friend with a 97 Grand cherokee he says the motor has been acting up lately. It will randomly "pop" which he thinks is a backfire. Has anyone else had these type of problems, or maybe a possible solution :?:

it already has a gibson cat back, bored out thottle body, and firepower ignition upgrade. He thinks it might be a sensor but also wants to know what else he can do to squeeze more power out of it :?: :?:

A frtiend of mine with a grand and a 4.0 had a problem. His cat was broken up and causing a lot of back pressure. It would move around and cause intermittant problems. Rattle the exhaust. If it sound like a bag of rocks inside then the cats bad.

It may be something as simple as replacing the spark plugs. And plugs are cheap!

I have the V8, but my cat also sounds like a bag of marbles let loose....if they get to just the right position, they will plug the exhaust pretty good....I gotta quit smacking it.

It would fit  but I like the 4.0, thats why I bought my yj instead of just upgrading the cj again. I think my buddy has fixed whatever it was that was causing the loss of power but I'm sure he'll be looking at more upgrades soon. which is good cause that way I can see how they work before I buy them

Yessir! I am stuck in a full time job with much overtime...... still waiting for a job that will pay 6 figures for me to do nothing. Got the Jasper in my XJ, 1500 miles down, and 1500 miles to go until trail time! 8)
