ACOS Install

Whew! I've got one side finished. It took longer because of the welded bumpstop holders. I had to run out and buy an angle grinder and cut-off wheel and a tap. Wouldn't you know it, Home Depot doesn't have any metric taps. :swear_mad: I had to truck up to Sears in Manchester. I also jerked around getting the first spring out. When we did it at the Wrenchfest we had 2 or three guys standing on pry bars and wrestling with the spring. Being the dumbass Gorilla that I am, I tried the pry bar, wrestle method solo, to no avail. I finally remembered I read about someone using the stock bottle jack between the axle and the frame. Worked like a charm. The other side has the spring out, but it's a little too late to be cutting and grinding. I'll have it finished in the morning and I'll see how it looks. I adjusted it for 3" vs. the 2" the spacer gave me.

One other thing, I'm gonna need Swaybar disconnects. the stock links got bent becuase of the lift...

Here are some pics of the ACOS install. Like I said, once I got the angle grinder/cut off wheel and the 10mm tap it's not too bad.

2. This pic shows the hole that needed to be tapped after the bumpstop holder was cut off and ground

3. Sparks flying... the wife was only slightly alarmed when she took this pic

4. After the cut off. The metal was much thicker than I thought.

7. Much better. Still a little high in the rear, but that is starting to settle

Nice job on the ACOS Rey!

Looks good.
Isn't it cool when you do a quick project and have a good reason to buy new tools to finish the job?

BTW, were you wearing safety glasses while using the cutoff wheel?

Thanks Guys!

Yep, I've finally got my wife thinking "The right tool for the job". This was quite a transformation because when she was single in an apartment, she literally used a ROCK to hammer nails to hang stuff!

As far as the safety glasses, I wanted to spare everyone my Fugly Mugg, but yes I was...  :rotflmao:
