adjusting tv cable

Hi everybody
has anyhone adjusted a tv cable on a later grand cherokee?

I'm used to the old style gm where you push a button pull it out and stomp the gas to the floor. 
This one doesn't do that.  No button just a clip that you have to pull out set the position and put back in.

Any ideas?

It's a 97 grand cherokee with a 4.0 and 4 speed auto. 

Anybody with a repair book?

You should upgrade the to HDTV cables, they are expensive but well worth it.

I am trying to figure out how to adjust the cable that connects the automatic transmission to the throttle body (TV cable) on a 97 grand cherokee.

oh.. i did it once... don't remember how... this was on my 97TJ, maybe differant

you want the last 1/4-3/8 of and inch of the throttle (before it reaches wide open) to pull that cable. When that cable get pulled it downshifts the trans. so play with it. if it pulls too soon it will downshift too  quickly on the highway.  that has been my experince with "kick down calbes" as I call them.
