SRS kit for my YJ.....

would it be worth it or would it make the truck drive like crud?

thanks guys

If I can find it I'll post a link to an article I read on this...

But basically, if you are doing any crawling it will be BETTER if you have an SRS.  The only drawback to an SRS that I saw was when you are on-Highway and are braking the front end will dive on you.  Not a big deal if you can get used to it.

The SRS will make your crawling ALOT smoother.

I can't find a link to the article online, but it was in the April 2006, Vol. 11, No. 3 issue of JP Magazine.

They explain the differences in how the leaf springs and shackles work front mount and rear mount.

MY opinion? I'd go rear mount, but I don't have leafs...

Oh, and if you do a rear shackle mount and put in any amount of lift you may also want to look into a long travel driveshaft as well...

.

I had a SRS on a 4cyl YJ.  The only time the diving was ever an issue was under very hard braking.  Otherwise it was never a problem, Rode much nicer on and off road.  In my current CJ build up I will be doing a SRS as well

So with my experiance it is worth it

what is a caster problem???

and will i have to have my DS changed in length....

Check out: http://jpmagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/axletech/37201/ for your caster/camber questions...

The guy sounds like a dink and really seems like he likes to hear himself talk, but the info is pertinent to your question...

I used a warrior kit in my cj 7 and was very happy with how much better it drove, much better on the highway and slow speed bumps.I also have VERY little bump steer, even with the soa set up.As a side note,if you think about what your doing and are a little creative you can easily add an inch or 2 to your wheelbase.

Only in that it can affect your pinion angle and you will most likely need a long travel Drive Shaft.  Both easily correctable.

so, no, not really.

my caster issue is already there, SRS will correct mine so ignore all that... it wont affect yours...

Camber you can not adjust on a solid axle jeep. (unless you use those funky ball joints,,, so ignore this  :grinyes:)

so the only thing is the drive shaft.  Most SRS move the front axle an inch forward, and this will require having to legthen the drive shaft for this.

Even myself, I have the MORE SRS sitting at home in the box, and already have a Tom Woods Extended Travel Driveshaft which works for things like axle drop, or revolvers.  However when I was thinking going SRS (to fix my specific problems) I called them and they looked up my created lengths.  They still want me to send my shaft in and have it lengthened.  Being it i will be fine, unless I full flex which "could" give me problems. 1" inch on a driveshaft is considered a lot.  So back is goes and $60 it costs to legthen.

The SRS will give you a little better on road feel, so it all depends on whether you think this is worth it or not....

My friend did it on his CJ-5, He also went SOA  he loves it.  only issue he has is It requires a long travel driveshaft.  we tried using a standared one and it fell apart all the time. also he lost some of his climbing ability.  this is because as the suspension compresses the tire moves back instead of forward.  He didn't lose much but enough to be noticeable.

I did a srs and soa. And it works great. It will dive under hard braking. Drive shaft length is important. Long travel shafts are the best choice. If the driveshaft bottoms out (under full compression- wheel travel) it'll drive back your X-case and break it. When you get everything dialed in and add a winch check it all out again because the extra weight will sag your springs and with a srs move the axle further back under compression and kill your X-case again. hahahaha... You ask how do I know this. I broke one!!

Oh yea is that all the stuff you fabricated from scratch. I was wondering where you came up with all that stuff when we installed it on your Jeep.
