i just picked up myself a 16 ton hydraulic manual tubing bender, and i am very inexperienced with it as of now..... and i was wondering if anyone knows of any tricks to speed up the learning curve for one of these contraptions..... future plans are an internal roll cage for my xj, front bumper , rear bumper, and really heavy hula hoops. so you can shake it like Shakira!

what kind of bender did you get?          http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/bendin_tube/index.html

 Too funny, I just hauled home two huge pieces of cardboard to lay out the main hoops instead of drawing on my floor.
I had this article in mind. The DOM tube is a little bit too expensive to be experimenting with.

This looks like a really good method to get the basics down and learn how the bender reacts.

this kinds
.... its a sixteen ton , in the article theirs is a little different i dont think that matters though the basic geometry is all the same right?.... it just operates a little differently. thanks guys

Something is missing in your image.

Judging from your "16 ton" description, it sounds like it might be a "Pipe Bender" from Harbor Freight or Northern Tools??? If so, the dies for pipe are different than dies for tube[/]. Tube is measured OD, pipe is measured ID.

Don't even think of trying to bend tube with a pipe bender, evenif you can find a die that fits close - all you'll do is end up puting a kink in it.

ya its from northern hydraulics........ so are you saying my pipe bender is not going to work??? cuz a $100 bucks later that sux!...
