Auto vs. Stick....... Got to replace a tranny

If your worried about rolling back you can install a hand throttle for $15. I used one back when I started wheeling. I have since removed it, you don't really need it once you hone your driving skills.

I love my bicycle shifter hand throttle.  Just set the RPM's like a tractor and steer

With a stick it works well for all up-hill situations.  and works great for cruise control on the highway :grinyes:

plus in those sticky situations where...."F*&K It" comes to mind and you just push down hard and theres nothing but building torque and spinning tire.... clutch takes away some momentum..... but it is definetly awesome to rock it out of a jam with clutch.... :afro:

not sure about jeep auto trannies  but I have a willys with a chevy drive train and I have a super low stall torque converter out of a diesel.. like 600 stall... drives like a manual in low gear and crawls effortlessly....and self brakes on the inclines... FYI....

Just learn to toe/heel. Easy as pie. You can't get better control than that.

V8 plus 46 RH tranny in 1st gear (it won't shift out of 1st unless I shift it.) = killer compression braking.  Auto all the way.  It's perfect for the rocks out here.  I do have a huge tranny cooler, no problems with 168K on the ticker.  keep it cool, keep it alive.
