So Im backing into my parking spot this morning and do a little burnout in reverse and something in my rear diff lets go with a nice loud bang. DOH! serves me right for screwing around. Im figuring its probably a spider gear cut loose. I called Pete and he probably has what I need to fix it. What Im wondering is if its too undrivable can I pull my stock slip yoke driveshaft and cruise home in 4wd? or is it gonna leak too much outa the transfer case.Is there a trick to seal the output shaft?  Im gonna pull the cover today on my lunch break and take a lookie and see how bad it is hopefully its not a snapped axle end.  :swear_mad: :rotflmao: Friggin dana 35's!

Yep, its open bone stock w/3.07's. Im thinking as long as the axles ok Im gonna drive it home tonight I dont care if the carrier or the rest grenades. Its all going in the garbage once it makes it home.

Update: Well I took the cover off and I guess Pete was right its the pinion it has two slightly chipped teeth. I cleaned out the metal pieces and filled er back up it only growels a little so it should make the 45min. ride home Im just gonna stay off the highways. I guess I now have a good excuse to give my wife for cash to gear up and super axles

tj's are not sealed!!! my friend has an 04 tj, and when his rear shaft seal went, transfer case fluid went everywhere. i was driving behind him, and t-case fluid was all over the front of my rig.
it's not a good idea to pull the slip yoke shaft out and just drive it.....you will loose all the fluid in minuted.

by driving with damaged rear end, you run the risk of the rear end locking up.  bad mojo to pull the e-brake on the highway and not being able to release it.  If you're gonna drive it, keep to the secondary roads. Don't go over 40.  Good luck.
