Center wheel caps necessary?

Just got a pair of center caps delivered.  They suck.....way too much bling  :bling: for me.  Are they necessary, or can I run without them?  Do they keep the mud and crud from getting inside to axle area?   Other option is to paint them but I'm not sure how to paint over chrome.  Any recommendations?

I have a sand/bead blaster - that will rough 'em up enough for some Rustolium Flat black paint  :wink:

flat black paint = the Anti Bling!  :bling:

No caps.....paint.  Next time I take mine off...hopefully for my 35's....Ill paint mine too.  Bull.

Bling is for steeling, and front teeth   :rotflmao:

You'll need something as the front outer axle shafts show threads without them.  If you ever want to be able to change them  ... protect them.
