CJ water pump question

I got a 258 out of a CJ7 and put it in my CJ5. The fan was about a half an inch away from the radiator and when we took it wheeling the first time we went down a bank and the fan chopped into the radiator. I looked at a buddies CJ5 and we noticed that the water pump was different from the 5 to the 7. Does any one know if the CJ5 water pump will bolt onto a CJ7 258? My other thought was to put in an electric fan. Thanks alot

I'd try the cj5 pump, though you may need to get the cj5 accessory brackets / pulleys to go along with it.  As for the electric.  Tried it a few times on v8 cars and the aftermarket ones never had the cajones to cool an engine.  Even a good one.  (it was a 455 though).  Mechanical's always pull enough air.

Indeed...He would certainly know the answer.

Though my guess would be that the CJ-5 uses a short shaft water pump.

yeah I know the pumps are shorter and have different outlets. Im just wondering if it willl bolt up. Thanks

what about motor mounts.... worn out allowing the engine to move forward....???

No the motor mounts are brand new. I just got the block out of a CJ7 and rebuilt it and put it in the CJ5.
