I'm writing this on behalf of my friend. He's got an 89 yj with a 4.2L. He's been told he needs to replace his entire clutch system and he doesn't have the $1K that he was quoted to do so. I found the parts for him but neither of us knows at all how to even start this? Should we try or is this something that should be left to those who know how? Any Help? I don't have a winch, so I need him to be in the woods with me. His broken jeep is also my problem. Thanks y'all.

The best place to start....If you've never done a clutch replacement before.

Would be to get a service manual from the auto parts store, then decide if you want to tackle the job yourself. You can really mess this up if not done right.

Easy for me (I've done at least a hundred of em') not so easy the first time around.

When you get around to bleedeing the hydraulic system of the clutch I've got a tricks for you there.

starting my 95 YJ clutch next week... fun fun

by the way... not all clutches are equal... and you don't want to do the job twice....
