is it realistic to think I can swap out my clutch at a wrenchfest without me knowing how? I've got an 89 yj w/ a 4.2L. If you guys think its cool, then I'll definitely give it a shot. Thanks for being so helpfull.

Possible - yes - if everything goes right.
On a 17 year old jeep, that's not likely.
Lots of things to go wrong, bolts rusted in place, skid plates bashed enough that they wont go back in place etc.

If this is your daily driver, I would make plans on having another car to drive if it can't be finished in one day.

Oh yeah....

Those old YJ skid plate bolts never come out easy when they've been together that long.

You're gonne need a breaker bar longer than the one you can buy at Sears.

Those bolts are evil, the same thing happened on my TJ.
Bad enough that I had to drill through the frame with a hole saw and torch out the nutsert for one of them.

I still haven't taken care of that missing bolt.

On my TJ - which is only 7 years old, I had to drill out 2 of the nutsert, the tack welds holding them from turning broke when I tried to take out the bolts, the bolt just spins - ended up making new ones and welding them in place. Re-welded all the others in place at the same time.
