Need to change my pinion seal in the front axle.  Anybody got a torque spec?  I don't think there is a crush sleeve.  Can anyone confirm that?  TIA.  Hopefully doing this tomorrow night.

Right, done the punch method at work.  (Hope noone goes to Colony Ford for service)  Looking to avoid pulling the shafts.  Any way to be certian of the crushsleeve issue?

you should be able to use the bill of material number on the tag or the housing to id whether it is a sleeve or shims. i have a spicer book, call me tomorrow. pete

Thanks Pete, I'll call you tomorrow.  Sorry for not getting back to you about the locker.  Gonna have to hold off for a week or two.  Just got my credit card bill from Christmas.   Gots to pay da bills first.

just retorque it to 250 lbs you'll be fine then.

I have a spec on the pinion nut of 160-200 lb/ft

I believe it's a "crush" type locknut on those, hence the extra torque.  Everyone I've ever done I always torque alittle more to be safe.  Master install kit's come with a new nut for a reason, albeit I'm nut sure if that's why.

put on some red loctite, it wont come loose that way.you will need a torch to get it off!! :2cents: pete

Same spec for both.

It will take more than the specified torque to crush the collar (most likely).

The new nut is to replace the "one use only" lock nut. Yes, I've re-used old nuts for my own junk
