When I get back I'm planning on lifting my YJ again, suspension this time. and rather than an SYE kit I was thinking Dana 300, has anyone done this swap yet?? if so is it worth the effort, and who sells the best flip kit for it?

How is it that everything I plan on doing, your already a step ahead of me?????  Its just not fair, but at least I get to learn from your experiments

ReRun- I'm following your YJ plans (for ideas on my 90 YJ ).  I'm not sure I want to experiment with some of the concepts like the dana 300 flip - but the mono-leaf springs are an intersting option ( I have a D44 rear in my shed)

BTW what time is it there?  Is it 2007 for you? - if so Happy New Year!

it was new years when I posted but you've all caught up by now. I am still a little torn on the 300 flip, but I really liked the durability of the one I had in my old CJ. I am thinking about trying some newer concepts on this build though, the CJ was a very "mail order then bolt on" ride and while capable it was too much like what everyone else has, this time I want something that is a little more of my own willingness to experiment. hopefully I can match the parts to get what I'm looking for without having to do too much custom stuff.

The gear vs. chain thing is what I liked the best but the other advantages are more than worth a little effort to get the swap done, I've heard you can gain ground clearance in the center by clocking it when you do the swap too.

Toyworx has a t-18/d300 for sale with an adaptor.  You'ld pick up a nice granny gear but lose your 5 speed.

I actually considered that one but I still need to be able to hit the highway with my jeep so I decided against the sacrifice of 5th gear, maybe someday I'll be able to afford a car to drive so that my jeep can get a little more...well "silly" for lack of a better term

Dont forget the 300 can be done in stages, no need to drop that big nut all at once.

Anywho...pro's & cons everywhere we look, just show'in a swap that happened to be in a TJ.

Here's the YJ swap Paul shared with me I previously spoke of, includes Scout 44 axles.

WHERE??

The TJ site is great lots of pics which makes it easier on my short attention span, can't wait to see what the YJ site has to say about it.

Thanks Mark, I dont know if I'll be swapping in scout axles but the concepts are pretty much the same and the site is pretty good on info
