Door Misalignment

I have a set of YJ half doors that I picked up a while ago. I went to put them on for the first time, and they don’t exactly align up. When the door is put on, the bottom hinge sits flat, but the top hinge there is a 1/4" gap. The door should actually go a 1/4 down being the striker does not line up. It does not appear to be bent anywhere, but is the hinge plate on the door adjustable? Can it be loosened and just the bottom hinge moved, that appears to be the only one throwing the alignment off.

Yep, the lower hing plater can be loosened. I would do it while the door is on the jeep. It will only take like a 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn per bolt. Then let the door drop until it hits the right spot, and snug.

Only problem has been the paint. If its a hing plate that is painted over the door, you'll mess up the paint.

use a nice fresh torx bit, give it a tap to cut through the paint and lean into it as you turn. they should snap free pretty easily. i just did a set of full yj doors and it worked pretty well. i never used a hand impact wrench before, but if you keep enough pressure against the door you should be ok.
