I beer canned my stock rear drive shaft last nite and got a replacement from Arite but it looks kinda short. I havent gone home yet to check it to the Jeep yet and the old one is now four inches shorter but I was wondering if any one knows what the length is cap to cap .Its a 99 TJ 5spd w/231 and D35.The replacement I got is a smidge under 12 inches center of cap to cap. Its also out of a 97 TJ 5spd.I just wanna know so I can return the replacement today if its wrong. Thanx

I recently switched to Tom Woods/SYE.  I have the old shaft in the shed - I'll measure my shaft tomorrow and let you know what the length is

TMI !!!!  :puke:

The used drive shaft fit perfect. It took about 20min to put it in. But it also let me find out my rear diff is busted again!!Spiders this time. Im never towing my buddies boat ever again.  :mad02:

I know I shouldnt of done it but the barometer was dropping and the moon was full and the bite was on so we had to go fishing. We normaly take his work truck but it was being serviced and I figured why not the boats only an 18 footer. I got stuck on the edge of the concrete ramp and gased it and the rest was history. The worst was driving home with the boat in front wheel drive I couldnt go over 40mph or it would start swaying like a mother f??ker. Lesson learned.

That sounds like a really bad towing experience!  What was the GVW of the boat / trailer?
