drive train noise

ok, heres the deal.... a few weeks ago my trans (AX5) would grind every now and then,(maybe once a week), but if i stopped and went again it would go away for about a week. well i think it was my trans, so i replaced it this past weekend. got a good deal on one with 40000 miles. now maybe once a day or 2, i hear a VERY loud bang from under the jeep. kinda like when you are accellerating and it comes out of gear, i checked everything and its all tight, any ideas what it may be? trans or t-case? i'm totally lost. please help!

it maybe in the axle.broken tooth in the spider gears?pete

well ur half right. broken ring gear teeth from 2 ring gear bolts that came out. looks like its time for a ford 8.8 8)

gotcha.... i picked up a ford 8.8 today, so that nasty little d-35 won't be a problem anymore. :twisted:
