Has anyone ever tried it?
I have one word.

Don't

A coworker brought one in.
She ripped it open with rubber gloves on, then scooped out these pockets of goo that can only be described as plant pus.
I can't see how anyone, even faced with death or starvation would eat that.

Just tearing it apart, it smelled like some kind of septic infection and/or decomposition.

I saw something that looked similar in a stop and shop years ago called a jack fruit. It looked the same only super giant in size comparison.
I have no idea if they are related.

Freakin' corpse fruits

Did you taste it? The internet says it actually has a sweet taste despite the nasty odor.

Yeah I bet. I'd probably just stay away from it since there's plenty of other fruit that smells good lol

For what it's worth, (as a reference) I HAVE tried canned grasshoppers.
The good ones come packed in oil just like sardines.
They de-leg em too so it's not like eating sticks.
Those are ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to get em .lol
If I can do that, then the nasty fruit....is pretty nasty.
