dont flame me for this one but i am going to be asking about the exhust leak between the manifold and the pipe...

i dont know how to fix it...i am trying to patch it cuz i think that i will break the bolts off the flange when i try to tighten it.

i can see the exhaust coming out of the flange and i need to know if JB Weld on it or if there is something else i can do???

1995 2.5L 4 banger

thanks

thanks....

i got gasket and i am going to try put it in soon cuz it is so noisy driving it around town, and i am wasting a ton of gas too

thats what i thought, but the parts store says so.....it was liek 10 bucks

Get brass nuts to repace the normal ones.  Brass nuts will always strip and pull off before the manifold studs break.  They hold just fine too.  Been using on my buick for years.

Whatever you put back on, remember to use anti-sieze, it will make the job a little bit easier next time.

Every time a nut or bolt comes off of my jeep it goes back on with a good coating of anti-sieze.

if i come to the MG early, could one of you help me fix it??

plz plz plz

i have the gasket......

I won't be there,

But this is not a job you would really want to do in the parking lot of a bar.  Hell its not a job you would like to do in a driveway right now with the recent snowfall.
I would reccomend going out and getting new stud,s and the brass nuts.  then go under there,  the bolts will either break or come loose if they break,  hit em with a hammer until they come out and replace em.  if they don't break your good.

When i did mine I sued a liberal amount of heat as well.  heat em up red hot and they com right off.

i meant to say if i came down eariler in the day...but whatever

i will try and get them out sometime, a buddy of mine has a garage i can use, so thgat might be good

still not right

they dont show a gasket for the 2.5L but i think that it needs something cuz i can see it leaking.....

does the manifold have a tapered seat where the pipe bolts to it?

make sure there isnt excessive rust buildup, or if you cleaned the rust off that there isnt pits. both make a rough seat and exhaust leaks out no matter how tight you make it.

i will try that now...i can take a wire brush to the edges.....

thanks

i will give an update in a few days if i get a chnace to work on it

if its pitted a little try some of the high temp exhaust paint.  like PJ1.  it tends to fill it nicely
