they're faaaaaan-tastic!

Go see PETE! :listen:

I am assuming he can't go see Pete cause he already started the project. Although you could take the axles out and bring them down to Pete..

yup unless you have ALL the right tools it takes quite a while. i didnt' even have a press when i set up my rear just a bearing puller and an impact gun boy that was fun. getting the right tools makes the job soo much simpler. well good luck and post up a few pics of the pattern when you get it so we can tell ya to do it all over again

the 44 is done and ready to go in . the 30 all my numbers are good and i think the pattern is good ( will try to post pic later) long and centered on both sides yes the tools do help a lot .the second set of gears will go a lot better as i get the "feel" for it

what did you end up with for lash and preload on those puppies. did you use a full rebuild kit or just a minor install kit

the rear i put a Detroit locker i forget the numbers on that as i did it a while ago . the front i hit the pinion at 14 and the bl is 7. i used a master install kit seals shims all that crap

7 is not bad as long as the pattern is in the center to lower part of the tooth. same should be for the back side of the tooth.did you have to hammer in the carrier or did it slide in? if you are right on you wont have any noise on accel or decel. follow the breakin procedure for the gears. im sure others will fill you in about breakin. any Q's call or email me. pete

i forget what the range is for the lash but just rember for off road use most people try to keep the lash at a bare minimum because of the use. (on off the gas). and the lash will loosen up some as it breaks in.

I'm definitly not the best when it comes to gears, but I would say you have a pretty good wear pattern there. Good luck.

i got the pattern much better than the pics i posted . its all done now . going from 3:07 to 4:56 is a big jump and the detroit will take a bit getting used to i have some vibes now but i think its from the d shaft the angle is a bit off ( new springs with the rear ) ill bring a few ujoints with me to mm
