i will be quick to admit that i am inexpierenced at working on any type of car, but i am edgar to learn. I recieved these lights free from a friend who had no idea what to do with them, Me being only somewhat more technologicaly inclined knew as much as to bring them here.

I can get through the mounting (on front bumber in front of the grille)  and even placing the switch, but i dont understand the relay part. At least i understand the purpose enough to know they are necassary, but where would i go about looking or buying one for these lights? I am interested only in having a seperate switch not connected to and of the other lights in the car (to complicated for me i think ) Any recomendations on switches, or types of wire, and what i should know or keep in mind?

I plan on using one of these schematics i think, but what type/ how do i do the fuse? What are the benifits/ drawbacks to either?

By the look of the pic, you don't have the relay? You could search online for the manufacturer of the lights or you could wire them direct. If you do wire them direct, just make sure you use a wire rated for the current draw. You can also get an inline fuse at WalMart or Radio Hack. Ahh, just bring them to Radio Hack and ask the guy what you need. They'll have everything for a direct hook-up.

You should be able to find the relay and switch at any autoparts store.  Just ask for a relay kit for driving/fog lights.  Use the 1st diagram - it uses an ignition power source for the switch (only comes on when the ignition key is 'on') - saves you from forgetting to shut off your lights and draining the battery   Good luck!

would radio shack have the wire i need, or would an autozone type store be a better bet? and Also, is there anyway to figure out how much current these bad boys draw? To my knowledge these are quite old, and searching for them online didnt yield any quick info. Ill most likely head over to radio shack soon though, thanks guys

also, for wiring from the ignition power source, anyone know what wire i would tap into? (i have a 97 zj thanks)

For the Battery to #30 and the #87 on the relay to the lights - I'd recommend 16 gauge wire (radioshack/autozone - anyware wire is sold )

For the ignition power source to switch, and to #85 and #86 to ground on the relay - 18 gauge wire should be fine.

For ignition power source - at the fuse block - Radio/accessory fuse or wire is usually a good 12v + when the ignition is on.  Another choice is the 12V power outlet (Cig Lighter).  PM me if you need help
