I picked up a 1994 ford explorer 8.8 rear end. I have a 1997 jeep wrangler. Does everything line up with everything on my wrangler, if not what would it take to get that bolted up? Would it be wirth it? I got it for 50 bucks. And all that is wrong with it, is the ring bearing is shoot.
Thanks,
steve

is it drum if it is you may want to think about pulling some disks off a later year . i put one under my xj and it is pretty simple i purchased a 12" section of 2.5x2.5 box tube and cut it in half then put half rounds in the center of the two sections and drilled holes on the top (spring perches done) then i went to home depot and grabed a few bolts that fit snugly into the rubber gromet in the shock eye and welded them on the axle, you can cut off you stock shock mounts and weld them on the new axle but i wanted the clearance. (they work fine and are 12 cents at home depot!) the other thing you will need is the adaptor to change from a yoke style like on your current setup to a flange style like on the 8.8 (if you plan on doing a sye or new ds the shop may build the ds with the flange on it for free) i forget the exact # but i beleive the 8.8 is a hair longer (length of pinion) than a d35.
