Forget "No Spark" Looks Like I Need A Motor

I seem to have solved my no spark problen (I think)
Anyway, I bought this jeep without hearing it run, as it had been sitting for a while and the price was right.
The previous owner said he thought it had a bad lifter (I wish)
When she fired up today, it sounded like someone was trying to beat their way out of the motor with a hammer!
So now, I'm not sure just what to do.
Do I part it out and look for a more suitable YJ(I bought a YJ 4 inch lift kit)?
Rebuild my motor?
Get a short block?
Please don't suggest a V8 swap, as it has to pass emissions, etc.

Opinions wanted.

You bought the lift before you had the JEEP running? Hmmm, if everyting else is in good condition I'd throw a motor in there.

Yea, I know,,,it was brand new in the box at a really good price so I jumped on it.
I'll do a little research on reman engines.

Find a cheap cherokee with a 4.0 and swap away.

If it we're me, I'd take it all aprt and find out what broke to see if it's worth fixing first.

But...by the sounds of it, sounds like a connecting rod broke or something.
