Front Hitch and Hella 500 install

Need a front tow point to do trail rides so I just ordered a Drawtite front receiver for my 98 XJ. Since I'll be taking off the front bumper, I also ordered a set of Hella 500 Fogs to install. Since it's a 98 I'll have to drill holes in the top of the bumper. If they come in this week, the install will be Saturday.

I have the same lights on my 2000.  Now on a Detour's bumper.  When I had them on the stock bumper, I drilled into the top of the bumper at the angled section.  It keeps them just far enough away from the grill and they don't stick out further than the bumper.  I would recommend that.  Know what I mean?  The little 1/2" section that is at about a 45o angle from the vertical and horizontal parts of the bumper.

i think donny meant to say  buy  detours back bone system   :rotflmao:     you can put a winch on it later   i put  tow hook brackets on the front  that i will be taking off as soon as i get detours stuff  so if you think your going to get a winch. start out  right

Geeze......did you think this out?

Any pics or links?

@Detours - I sure did. The backbone is very cool and I do appreciate the readiness for a winch and it does blow away all the cons, such as "tow hooks bending" and the "clearance/approach angle of a hitch". I really wish I could have,  but my XJ is bone stock right now, and I wanted to get in the game as cheaply as possible to allow for other upgrades. I weighed the options vs. my budget (Front Tow Hooks & Brackets - $75, Front Hitch -$110, Back Bone - $265) and the hitch made sense for me also because I can utilize the front receiver for other stuff.  When I am ready for a winch, which is way down the line of upgrades, I will look strongly at the Backbone.

@d0nnyg77 - I know exactly what you mean. I was looking at that and it's good to hear someone confirm what you're thinking. Thanks!
