I consider myself a "do it yourselfer" for the most part. But last night I finished installing new inner/outer door handles on my YJ full doors. This job just plain sucks if you have never done it before. Here are some lessons learned for this job:
#1. Most importantly, for the outer handle, you have to unbolt the glass. The rubber stopper at the bottom of the door is removed and the window slides all the way to the bottom of the door. This allows the removal of the inner and outer window gaskets. If you dont remove the gaskets, you will not be sucessful in installing the keepers that hold the handle in.
#2. When installing the inner handle, it is much easier to attatch the rods to the handle, then slide them through the handle opening and attatch them at the latch.
I spent like 4 hours on this job. The next time I do it it will probably take a little over an hour now that I know how to do it.
