Gas gauge or sender?

The problem is the gas gauge on my 92 YJ is ALWAYS on full. The Jeep can be running, shut off, even taking the battery out of the Jeep so there is no power anywhere, the gauge still stays on full. So I am thinking it's the gauge itself and not the sender. Any ideas????

I'm a CJ guy...so I just live without a gauge. :doh:

I have a '90YJ and mine has been reading on full for the past 7 years. I just make sure I fill up when the OD is around 250 miles. Reset the trip OD everytime I fill up. I used to have a 5 gallon jerry can on board just in case. I tried checking all the connections and grounds. Sometimes when I smack the dash the gauge reads for a couple of seconds.. Hopefully when I swap out my leaking tank, the new one will have a sending unit that works...
