Gas Tank Compatabilty

I have a 90YJ with the plastic 20 gallon tank. I picked up a steel 15 gallon tank from an 89YJ. Both had 4.2L. Will the steel tank fit right in place of the poly one? Will all the hoses be in the same place? I was considering having my local garage do the work ($120) and I don't want them to run into a bunch of xtra labor. Thanks for your input

How much of a pain in the a$$ would it be to swap this tank out? Would it be a major project?

It should not be that difficult? By why do you want to go from poly to a rustable metal one? The mounting holes are all the same, you would probably need a different filler/ vent hose and some slighlty longer rubber fuel line to hook into the hard lines.

I had a poly tank out in about 45 minutes, with the jeep in a very awkward position

in the following condition, just with the front end up on a sawhorse, so I could not really lift the back

Paul - my poly tank has a hole in it. I tried to use some gas tank epoxy, but with the extremely hot weather - it started weeping out around the epoxy patch. Thanks for the feedback on the swap. Maybe I'll try to work on it this weekend.
