I'm looking to add some skid plates to my jeep when I come home on my mid tour leave, the engine skid is already en-route to my house but I dont know what company to go with for a gas tank skid, any suggestions

whats up bill long time man....when will u be back?  i might have to make a special trip home from school to say hi.

Hey Pat, I'll be home the weekend before Halloween.

I just ordered my Engine skid and I'm kinda liking the no dropping the gas tank idea but I need to find out if skid row is as strong as the Kilby. The jeep wont be on the road so I can make it a mulitple day project if I need to. I'm looking for strength really, I had bad luck with the gas tank on the CJ and I dont want to repeat that.

The skid row is easier, but the Kilby takes your tank and raises it another inch higher.  Tucks it nice and high up into the Jeep.

Thanks for the tips guys but unfortunatly Kilbys skid is too expensive and doesn't raise YJ tanks, and skid row just doesnt make one for YJ's so I went with Tomken

Before you get to involved with the Tomken.  I hope you don't have a frame Hitch on the back of your YJ.
The Tomken uses the bumper bolts to attached.  Usually the same bolts the Hitch uses as well.

They won't work together.

So you might want to check that first.    I bought the Tomken,  and ended up switching the Skid Row because my hitch interferred.

Otherwise, the Tomken is a pretty beefy setup.

Whats the good word Detour?

I got a lot planned for my rig when I get home, now that I have some cash to back it. By the way, will my "Leathal Bever" bumper interfere with my new Tomken skid??

Oh and I took your advice I'm gonna go with the spring over in the rear and the coils up front, my bro is gonna talk to some guys at his tech school about a custom front suspension. hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you guys when its done.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you Detours, I got stationed in the mountains so I get plenty of rocks to scrape. I mean the roads here are sometimes no more than a dried up riverbed, I even got some pictures to show you of some of them when I get back. Somehow or another they decided I was a good candidate for a driver :twisted:  So I get to play on the rocks a lot :avid:

Did I mention they pay me to do it :doublefinga:
