ok blew another u-joint this time i had the bulky u-join im so sick of this that i gotta go with the sye. i split the nose from the tranny case this time too. where can i get the kit, and wich one is best... im lost here. thanks

Go with Advanced Adapters. There is actually a new one out now that's even shorter! Call Tom Woods and you can get the whole shabang driveshaft and all.

the shorter one has no speedometer output though. which could be a problem for some. I have the AA 32 spline HD SYE.

IT was already installed by K&B when I bought the case. so can't tell you too much about the install.

I didn't have the cash at the time to install a CV shaft, nor did i want to have to reweld my axle perches, when I would be upgrading to a new rear axle anyways. So i just made my own from a junker I hade laying around. normal style, works great.

i can vouch that all of them are not made by the same company.

many of them buy parts from the same supplier: seals, bearing, maybe even the tailhousing casting as well.

but I know AA and JB bot make their own shafts.

When I called Tom Woods who sells both, they told me that they are both pretty much the same and they don't care which one you buy. The only incite they had was AA imports their shaft material from Asia, and JB makes theirs in house, with US material... Whether it is true or not who knows. The Short SYE was actually designed by JB, and it does have a speedo output. It converts it to the new electronic type. If your Speedo still uses the cable, then you are SOL.

What size lift do you have a again, I have a my year old Tom Woods shaft from my YJ that I took off, so if you don't have the money, you can buy just the SYE and use my double Cardin shaft as long as you need. Mine was cut for a YJ 4" lift with the dana 35.

Reason I took it off was I put a 44 in and they are a 1" longer in the pinion. So I just upgraded to a whole new shaft.

Here is one for $220, but if you have the money, go with the Short SYE.

The JB Conversion Super Short SYE is cool and the same price as the others- it's a few inches shorter giving you more room for more driveshaft.

I dig my 1/2 ton Tom Wood's DS with 1310 joints, really nice guys over there- arrived at my house two days after I ordered it.

May want to look here. You could get the SYE for $170 shipped. No driveshaft though. The heavy duty kit is the RE SYE (i think) not the Hack and tap one

this is their other toms woods kit its the Advanced Adaptors Conversion Kit

im looking at the tom woods 231E Conversion Kit, looks like exactly what i need, im gonna have a fun time knocking the tranny drops off guy before me welded em on... SOB

What is the E for? Is that for economy? If you look at the shaft, they look like they were a Hack and Tap. How much more do they get for the AA?

If you contact the guy from Mad 4WD I bet he will beat thier price. A lot of people on here have dealt with him and he is really decent.
