I redid my exhaust this weekend and i think the rear O2 sensor is bad. My check engine light came on Monday morning. Tonight coming home the jeep wouldn't idle any lower than 2500rpm. I checked the throtle linkage and nothing is stuck. I shut her down and restarted it and it surged right back to 2500rom. Could my O2 sensor be causing this problem?
Thanks
John

Where are you located? I could take a look at it for you tomorrow night or Thursday afternoon. I'm in New London and will be in Central CT Thursday afternoon, then NorthWest CT Thursday evening. Lemme know.

Try checking the 'check engine codes' They're listed at this previous thread (5th post down - RUBITJ): http://www.northeastjeep.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2584

I tried it on my wifes KJ las night and it worked (her gas cap was loose!)

A bad O2 sensor wouldn't cause the idle RPM to jump.
Did you do the complete exhauste system from the manifold back?

I found out what my problem was. My hand throtle came loose on the shifter and was causing the jeep to run at 2500 rpm. I couldn't get that good of a look at it lastnight. As far as checking the code, i did not get one. It went through 000000-999999 but i got no code after that. I am almost positive though that the O2 sensor is causing the light. Thanks for all the help.

On the code checking - on my wife's KJ it did the same thing -cycled with no error. Then I tried turning the key on and of 3 times and the Pxxxx code showed on the odometer.
